This post is a simple thank you for not forgetting about a group of people. The people I’m referring to are brown women like myself, who simply want to be considered. I realize that every company is not trying to cater to WOC, and that’s fine. I just won’t support them. I can send this same “letter’ to several companies. There are plenty of brands that realize brown women buy their makeup.
I opened my email to find a press release about Nars’ new tinted moisturizer, Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30/PA+++. Half of the time, I don’t even get upset when I don’t see foundations close to my complexion. I hate to say it, but you get used to the disappointment. In fact, you’d be surprised about how many releases I receive for foundations that don’t go deeper than Jennifer Lopez’ complexion. But look at the model. Just look at that intoxicatingly beautiful deep brown skin!
For years, I’ve had people telling me to try Nars foundation. An old co-worker (who worked for Dior) swore by Nars foundation. In fact, she only wore Nars (and only wore Dior glosses. Sometimes.) And then I really stepped back to think about it. Francois Nars has continually looked out for us! He created Taj Mahal with brown women (specifically, Naomi Campbell) in mind. I still haven’t found a blush that has consistently looked so beautiful on brown skin (and other tones too). The lipsticks, shadows, powders, foundation, glosses–they all work for us too. It’s the sign of a quality product. They’ll definitely remain on my list of favorite brands.
