Did you catch Black Girls Rock last night? I only got to see Janelle Monae’s speech, which was beautiful, to say the least! Singer Marsha Ambrosius rocked a look that is easily wearable for any of us. MUA Jessica Smalls gives us very specific details on how she created the look on Marsha:
Eyes
Create a thick line above the entire top lash line, using ( my favorite liner ever!) MAC’s pearlglide liner in ” Lord it Up” and smudge the liner upwards, until the color begins to fade. Then apply Bobbi Brown’s “Medium Brown” to the crease and blend (in a wind shield motion) to smoke the eye out. Rim the inner top and bottom water line, with Cover Girls “Basic Black” liner, bringing that sultry “Come Hither” look to the eyes. Fill in your brows with your favorite brow pencil and generously coat the lashes about 3 to 4 times with “Bad Gal Lash” from Benefit.
Skin
Start prepping the skin using DDF’s ” Wrinkle Resist plus Pore Minimzer” as a moisturizer. Let that set in for about a minute and apply a layer of Smashbox’s ” Photo Finish” primer. Dab YSL’s “Le Teint Touche Eclat” foundation all over to achieve a radiant glow and barely there finish. Using a Beauty Blender, sparingly apply and blend ( starting closest to the nose) Bobbi Brown’s “Creamy Concealer” to highlight and brighten the under eye area. Start creating that sun kissed complexion by applying Covergirl”s Queen Collection Bronzer in ” Ebony Bronze” to the temples, across the cheek bones, along the jawline and I always sweep a little across the nose, to bring it all together. Make a big smile and apply Tarte’s blush in “Tipsy” to the apples of the cheek and finish off by dusting Make Up For Ever’s “Super Matte Powder” from forehead to chin.
Lips
Apply Eve Lom ” Kiss Mix” lip balm ( which is ridiculously moisturizing) to the lips and dab the smallest bit of foundation on top. Apply Mary Kay’s lipgloss in ” Melon Sherbet” to your finger and press the color to the center of the mouth, rub lips and behold a perfectly luscious nude pout.
