Five Makeup Staples that are Under $10

budgetbeauty

There are certain products that are always part of my regimen, and they can all be found at my local drugstore. Here are five items that I use all the time, and they tend

Maybelline Line Stiletto

I tend to lose my liquid eye liners the most. I haven’t seen most of the ones written in my top inexpensive drugstore liners post and believe me, I’m hurt about it. I only like liners with firm tips. Flimsy brushes are just too much of a gamble for me. I also love the Maybelline EyeStudio Master Precise Ink Pen, but it’s getting harder and harder to find.

L’Oreal Telescopic

I love this mascara because it helps separate my lashes while lengthening them. And for under $10, how can you go wrong? I’ve missplaced this mascara and I’m SO mad about it, but that means I just need to drive my butt the 5/8ths of a mile over to Walgreens and buy a new one. I’m also quite interested in the Manga mascara. It looks really, really impressive.

Black Radiance Cream Liner

I’ve talked about this time and time before, but it never lets me down. It lasts all day, it’s super creamy and dries matte, it’s jet black, it’s perfection!

Milani Lip Gloss Brilliance

There are darn good! They remind me a lot of the Bobbi Brown lip glosses because they are just pigmented enough to work alone or over lipstick. I own 3, and I slightly want to get all the other colors!

Cover Girl Queen Bronzer in Ebony Bronze

Old faithful. I must have written about this 10 times. I wear it all the time, it goes with every look. It’s warm and glowy without being glittery. You have to have it! Here’s a swatch.

My Favorite Liquid Eyeliners (They’re All Under $10)

I had been saving all of these containers solely for this blog post! I love liquid eye liner because it’s sleek and controllable.  Sometimes, I don’t feel like hunting down one of my cream liners and brushes. I had been using this $19 liquid eye liner from MAC for years. I also liked the Liquid Last liner and Penultimate, but they were too pricey as well. I have no idea how many tubes I went through! Here are three that worked well for me, and my favorite so far.

L’Oreal

The L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner gives a super rich black color. It has an interesting texture, which makes it look like you can peel it off. However, I hate the felt tip applicator. It’s so flimsy that I was making uneven lines. I ended up using my MAC 208 angled brow brush and applying it from the felt tip.

Covergirl

Covergirl Line Exact Liquid Liner was the first drugstore liner that I tried. I loved the small handle, becuase I got a very precise grip. The color was okay at first, because it is the first one that I tried. I realized after I bought a few other liners that the color isn’t very dark. Sometimes it seemed like it was mixed with water.

Maybelline

The Maybelline Eye Studio® Master Precise™ Ink Pen Eyeliner is my favorite right now! I received it at the Essence Best in Black Beauty Awards a couple of weeks ago. If it was rated a winner, then it had to be good! Well, they definitely didn’t dissapoint. The tip is long and firm, perfect for using on its side. The color was a dense black, and lasted all day. I still haven’t found anything to dislike from this product. The only other Maybelline product that was this good was Red Revival lipstick!

Milani

My friend Nik told me about the Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Liner, and it totally is. The formula is a little thinner than the others, but I used the entire liner pen with no worries. Can’t beat that!

What’s your favorite liquid liner? Leave a comment (and a blog post or video link) and let us see the hype!

Budget Beauty That Rocks: Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes

Yes To Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes

You know how to tell when something is really, really good?  When you get the product for free, run out of said product, then re-purchase. That’s exactly the case here. I’ve tried a bunch of makeup remover wipes. I used MAC Wipes (30 sheets/$15) for years, mainly because they were the only ones that I knew about. But they worked, and that’s what mattered. Then I found Alcone Wipes (24 individually wrapped sheets/ $11) , which are hands down the best makeup remover wipes on the planet. I cannot say enough good things about the Alcone wipes, but they are a bit too expensive for my taste.  In between all of these products, I’ve used baby wipes, which kind of get the job done.

But then, a box of Yes To Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes (30 sheets/$5.99) arrived at my door with a few other things. I used them that during several photo ops, and after many long days sporting a full face of makeup. They don’t drip with makeup remover, didn’t sting or burn, and they smell divine. I’ve had a love affair with cucumber scented products forever. They even make a set conveniently for travel (10 wipes/$2.99).

The Yes to empire is more detailed then I realized. Each scent of products works with a different issue.

  • Yes to cucumbers is for soothing/sensitive skin
  • Yes to carrots is for normal to dry skin and hair
  • Yes to tomatoes is for combination/acne prone skin
  • Yes to blueberries is for age damaged/mature skin

Great stuff! I purchased my products at Target, and these products are available at over 30,000 locations worldwide!
