VIDEO: The Gold Smokey Eye Look That I Loved…But Forgot About!

Back in the day, when I had a ton of time and my creative juices were constantly flowing, I had a few go to looks. But somewhere, somehow, they disappeared from memory. I’m not entirely sure how this happens. So I was going through my Youtube videos the other day, and I found the gold look based on a tutorial by Scott Barnes. I instantly fell in love again. (So in love, in fact, that I’m pretty sure I’ll be rocking this to graduation.) I was doing variations of the look all the time, no matter where I went. I’d do the look with browns, golds, purples, greens, blues–you name it. It’s one of those looks that isn’t hard to do, and it’s neutral enough that you can wear it day or night. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to get the look, step-by-step.

BTW, If you don’t have Saucy Eye Shadow duo by L’Oreal HIP, I need you to run out and get it. Immediately.

By the way, I’ve got less then a week left to go until graduation. I’ve got a list of video tutorials and reviews that I’ll be putting together on my Youtube channel. Let the games begin!

Video: Organizing My Makeup Collection

Lip Products in Ikea Alex Drawer Before

I’ve had the organizing bug for the last few weeks now, and I have to admit, it’s getting pretty exciting buying little things for storage. Don’t get me wrong, I’m starting to feel silly purchasing items just to store my makeup. I’d rather be spending on the makeup itself.

In this video, I’m sharing my progress as of this morning. In the image above, you can see how some of my lip products were “organized” before. I went back to Ikea to purchase more organizers, and ended up with three of the Antonious baskets, which you’ll see in the video. I’ve transferred most of my lipsticks and glosses into the new Antonious baskets (but I’m not sure if I like it yet). I really, really like these baskets so far as a whole.

Now I just need to make sure I make better decisions with them, as far as the best products that fit. It’s all a giant puzzle, and I’m having a lot of fun figuring it out.

Here’s the photo tutorial for adjusting the Summera (where I store my MSFs, Fluidlines, Eye shadow quads, etc) to fit in the Alex 9 Drawer.

If you have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them!

Photos: Makeup Storage–Organizing My Makeup Drawer w/ Ikea Summera Liners!

Organizing Your Makeup With Ikea Summera Under $10

3 Weeks.

It’s been three very long weeks since I’ve blogged, and I couldn’t wait to come back! It’s spring break–which means 8 more weeks until my last week of class. No more juggling 15 credits and a full time job. I can’t even begin to explain how badly I want to be done! Anyway, I had been planning a trip to Ikea for a few weeks, mainly to pick out some details to organize my Alex drawers. I don’t know what the Summera drawer liners are supposed to be for, but they were perfect for my makeup! I’d still like to buy some clear containers for my other drawers. Please note, I think this Summera drawer liner can work for any type of drawers you have, regardless of the brand or the size. You’ll just have to be open to making it work for whatever size drawer you have.

The Best (Cream) Eyeliner Ever–It’s Under $5

I will make a vow, right here, right now. I’m not buying another cream eyeliner other than this one. The liner I’m referring to is Black Radiance Continuous Creme Eyeliner. I purchased this for $3.97 at my local Walmart. Unbelievable. Let me explain why it’s so outstanding:

My Three Favorite Liquid Eyeliners (They’re All Under $10)

20120528-120559.jpg
I had been saving all of these containers solely for this blog post! I love liquid eye liner because it’s sleek and controlable.  Sometimes, I don’t feel like hunting down one of my cream liners and brushes. I had been using this $19 liquid eye liner from MAC for years. I also liked the Liquid Last liner and Penultimate, but they were too pricey as well. I have no idea how many tubes I went through! Here are three that worked well for me, and my favorite so far.

Budget Beauty That Rocks: Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes

Yes To Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes

You know how to tell when something is really, really good?  When you get the product for free, run out of said product, then re-purchase. That’s exactly the case here. I’ve tried a bunch of makeup remover wipes. I used MAC Wipes (30 sheets/$15) for years, mainly because they were the only ones that I knew about. But they worked, and that’s what mattered. Then I found Alcone Wipes (24 individually wrapped sheets/ $11) , which are hands down the best makeup remover wipes on the planet. I cannot say enough good things about the Alcone wipes, but they are a bit too expensive for my taste.  In between all of these products, I’ve used baby wipes, which kind of get the job done.

But then, a box of Yes To Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes (30 sheets/$5.99) arrived at my door with a few other things. I used them that during several photo ops, and after many long days sporting a full face of makeup. They don’t drip with makeup remover, didn’t sting or burn, and they smell divine. I’ve had a love affair with cucumber scented products forever. They even make a set conveniently for travel (10 wipes/$2.99).

The Yes to empire is more detailed then I realized. Each scent of products works with a different issue.

  • Yes to cucumbers is for soothing/sensitive skin
  • Yes to carrots is for normal to dry skin and hair
  • Yes to tomatoes is for combination/acne prone skin
  • Yes to blueberries is for age damaged/mature skin

Great stuff! I purchased my products at Target, and these products are available at over 30,000 locations worldwide!
