Back in the day, when I had a ton of time and my creative juices were constantly flowing, I had a few go to looks. But somewhere, somehow, they disappeared from memory. I’m not entirely sure how this happens. So I was going through my Youtube videos the other day, and I found the gold look based on a tutorial by Scott Barnes. I instantly fell in love again. (So in love, in fact, that I’m pretty sure I’ll be rocking this to graduation.) I was doing variations of the look all the time, no matter where I went. I’d do the look with browns, golds, purples, greens, blues–you name it. It’s one of those looks that isn’t hard to do, and it’s neutral enough that you can wear it day or night. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to get the look, step-by-step.

same day payday loan

BTW, If you don’t have Saucy Eye Shadow duo by L’Oreal HIP, I need you to run out and get it. Immediately.

By the way, I’ve got less then a week left to go until graduation. I’ve got a list of video tutorials and reviews that I’ll be putting together on my Youtube channel. Let the games begin!

I’ve had the organizing bug for the last few weeks now, and I have to admit, it’s getting pretty exciting buying little things for storage. Don’t get me wrong, I’m starting to feel silly purchasing items just to store my makeup. I’d rather be spending on the makeup itself.

In this video, I’m sharing my progress as of this morning. In the image above, you can see how some of my lip products were “organized” before. I went back to Ikea to purchase more organizers, and ended up with three of the Antonious baskets, which you’ll see in the video. I’ve transferred most of my lipsticks and glosses into the new Antonious baskets (but I’m not sure if I like it yet). I really, really like these baskets so far as a whole.

Now I just need to make sure I make better decisions with them, as far as the best products that fit. It’s all a giant puzzle, and I’m having a lot of fun figuring it out.

Here’s the photo tutorial for adjusting the Summera (where I store my MSFs, Fluidlines, Eye shadow quads, etc) to fit in the Alex 9 Drawer.

If you have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them!

3 Weeks.

It’s been three very long weeks since I’ve blogged, and I couldn’t wait to come back! It’s spring break–which means 8 more weeks until my last week of class. No more juggling 15 credits and a full time job. I can’t even begin to explain how badly I want to be done! Anyway, I had been planning a trip to Ikea for a few weeks, mainly to pick out some details to organize my Alex drawers. I don’t know what the Summera drawer liners are supposed to be for, but they were perfect for my makeup! I’d still like to buy some clear containers for my other drawers. Please note, I think this Summera drawer liner can work for any type of drawers you have, regardless of the brand or the size. You’ll just have to be open to making it work for whatever size drawer you have.

Right away, I knew they’d be too big, so they’d need a little detailing. For $8, it wasn’t a problem. When I got home, my suspicion was confirmed.

Here’s the main drawer I’m focused on for the day. Random MSF’s, and a few other things from other drawers. I spent $120 on these Alex drawers, and darn it, I’m going to use every freaking inch in the best way possible. That was definitely a splurge for me.

I took the MSFs and an eye shadow quad to the store with me to test compartments of other storage items I found. When I got home, I tested the space for my liquid liners. Look at this perfect fit!

I’ve never been one to pull out the tape measure and do things the safe way, so I cut off strips at a time. I used regular old scissors from around the house.

It took me 6 or 7 cuts, but it finally fit! I’m not a perfectionist with this project, so I didn’t mind the jagged edges and the not-so-perfect hack job.

I grabbed products that fit as nicely as possible, and I’m really pleased with the fit. I know I can’t see all of the products without moving them, but that’s not a deal breaker for me. Overall, $8 well spent! You can purchase the Summera drawer liners online or in store. If you’re looking for an even less expensive (and smaller alternative), try the Antonius storage basket, $3, which I’ll be buying soon! Here are a few photos to show how Lipgossiping stores her beauty booty in this basket.

I will make a vow, right here, right now. I’m not buying another cream eyeliner other than this one. The liner I’m referring to is Black Radiance Continuous Creme Eyeliner. I purchased this for $3.97 at my local Walmart. Unbelievable. Let me explain why it’s so outstanding:

You see, Warren told me about this gem a few years back. He was going out of town and didn’t have any liner, so he picked up this one at CVS. He raved about it. This is a rarity from Warren. I still have some liners, so I didn’t try it.

It’s almost creamier than my MAC or Make Up For Ever liners. In all fairness, I wanted to swatch this next to said liners. However, they are both a little over 6 months old, and definitely don’t have the texture that my new liner has. If I were to swatch all of them when I bought them, I would be able to make a better comparison.

The day that I purchased the Black Radiance liner, I also posted one of the L’Oreal Eye Kohl pencils. I wasn’t crazy about it at all. I’ve tried much better pencils than that. Not only that, I meant to pick up black, and I bought silver by mistake. In this image, you’ll see swatches of both L’Oreal and Black Radiance liners.

There were two tests that this liner passed:

1. I applied a full face of makeup last week, using the liner on upper and lower lids. By midnight, I went to take my makeup off, and my eye shadow was creasing, my foundation was barely there, and the eyeliner appeared to have been put on 10 minutes ago. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. No smudging, no moving.

2. My mua friend Meagan applied a thick line of liner to her hand the other day, and basically gave herself rug burn trying to get it off. It didn’t budge. This lets me further know that it’s the one.

Overall–Go out and get this liner y’all. Seriously. You’ll be able to pick this up at many drugstores and convenience stores, and online at drugstore.com and walgreens.com.

I love liquid eye liner because it’s sleek and controlable. Sometimes, I don’t feel like hunting down one of my cream liners and brushes. I had been using this $19 liquid eye liner from MAC for years. I also liked the Liquid Last liner and Penultimate, but they were too pricey as well. I have no idea how many tubes I went through! Here are three that worked well for me, and my favorite so far.

L’Oreal

The L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner gives a super rich black color. It has an interesting texture, which makes it look like you can peel it off. However, I hate the felt tip applicator. It’s so flimsy that I was making uneven lines. I ended up using my MAC 208 angled brow brush and applying it from the felt tip.

Covergirl

Covergirl Line Exact Liquid Liner was the first drugstore liner that I tried. I loved the small handle, becuase I got a very precise grip. The color was okay at first, because it is the first one that I tried. I realized after I bought a few other liners that the color isn’t very dark. Sometimes it seemed like it was mixed with water.

Maybelline

The Maybelline Eye Studio® Master Precise™ Ink Pen Eyeliner is my favorite right now! I received it at the Essence Best in Black Beauty Awards a couple of weeks ago. If it was rated a winner, then it had to be good! Well, they definitely didn’t dissapoint. The tip is long and firm, perfect for using on its side. The color was a dense black, and lasted all day. I still haven’t found anything to dislike from this product. The only other Maybelline product that was this good was Red Revival lipstick!

Next..

My friend Nik told me the Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Liner was really great. As a beauty lover and blogger, you know I can’t just settle with one that I like. I have to keep trying others to make sure it’s the best!

EDIT: If you love those, you’ll absolutely go GAGA for this $5 cream eyeliner. Click the image below for swatches and a review.

Hey everyone! Between an internship, school, a new job, blogging and some social media endeavors, I have been the queen of blog neglecting. Oh man. : (

I had a few moments between tasks, so I had to show you this lovely piece of happiness! If you are into makeup palettes, Pixi is for you. Just look at this set above. Doesn’t it remind you of a 65 degree day? The PixiGlow Fairy Face Palette ($35) is a complete face kit! (Have you seen the Ultimate Beauty Kit? It’s loaded with over 50 shadows, blushes and lip colors!) It’s packed with shimmery shadows and lip creams. These aren’t the most intense colors, however. If you like a lot of pigment, you’ll have to apply a few layers of product. You can find this palette exclusively at Target stores or pixibeauty.com!

Note: This product was sent to me for possible review.

You know how to tell when something is really, really good? When you get the product for free, run out of said product, then re-purchase. That’s exactly the case here. I’ve tried a bunch of makeup remover wipes. I used MAC Wipes (30 sheets/$15) for years, mainly because they were the only ones that I knew about. But they worked, and that’s what mattered. Then I found Alcone Wipes (24 individually wrapped sheets/ $11) , which are hands down the best makeup remover wipes on the planet. I cannot say enough good things about the Alcone wipes, but they are a bit too expensive for my taste. In between all of these products, I’ve used baby wipes, which kind of get the job done.

But then, a box of Yes To Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes (30 sheets/$5.99) arrived at my door with a few other things. I used them that during several photo ops, and after many long days sporting a full face of makeup. They don’t drip with makeup remover, didn’t sting or burn, and they smell divine. I’ve had a love affair with cucumber scented products forever. They even make a set conveniently for travel (10 wipes/$2.99).

The Yes to empire is more detailed then I realized. Each scent of products works with a different issue.

Yes to cucumbers is for soothing/sensitive skin

Yes to carrots is for normal to dry skin and hair

Yes to tomatoes is for combination/acne prone skin

Yes to blueberries is for age damaged/mature skin

Great stuff! I purchased my products at Target, and these products are available at over 30,000 locations worldwide!
