Face of the Day: Taupe and Purple Smokey Eye from my New Video

Urban Decay Sidecar, MAC Plum, I was so excited to create my Youtube video yesterday! I ended up shooting over 25 minutes of beauty news, and ended up with this. I had no idea what look I was going for, but one color led to another, and this is what I ended up with!

Update–I Love This Look: Pink Cheeks on Brown Skin at Tracy Reese c/o Mally Beauty

tracyreese_model_2012_spring

Mally beauty created the look for the Tracy Reese 2012 Spring/Summer Fashion Week show. For this gorgeous cheek, Mally’s team used 24/7 Cream Blush kit in Medium High. This looks like the perfect easy-to-wear brown girl pink blush! I’m totally a fan of orange and pink blush on Women of Color, so this gets me giddy. Check out this video tutorial where I wear one of my favorite pink blushes, MAC Azalea.

Get The Look: Kim Kardashian’s Bridal Look with Lancôme Paris

Kim Kardashian Wedding Makeup

Image c/o Sheknows.com

Kim Kardashian. I don’t watch her shows, could care less what products she sells. The media doesn’t really depict her in the most positive light. But, her body  shape is a lot like mine, so I do check out her fashion from time to time. With that being said…

I live for her makeup.

The girl is effin’ gorgeous. She’s pretty without makeup, and stunning with it on. Best of both worlds! She’s one of my makeup role models. Because I’m a fan of her makeup (and I love weddings), I was dying to see photos of her big day. Here’s what she wore, care of Mario Dedivanovic and Lancôme Paris!

Her eyes were sculpted with Color Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Golden Frenzy. This bronzy quad is a great use of every day shades for a special occasion. Lips were coated a soft orange with  L’Absolu Nu Lipstick in Coral Sand and La Laque Fever Lipgloss in Ravishing Coral.

Be sure to follow Mario on twitter and his blog! Mario also blogs for Spoiled Pretty, so be sure to check out Daneen too!

Tutorial: Erin’s Super Simple Bronze Summer Look

My Summer beauty routine is always a quick event.  I hate wearing a lot of makeup, especially when it’s hot out! I do my DIY Tinted Moisturizer for a glowy face.  For a bronze effect, I use an orange blush (this time I used Nars Exhibit A) and a bronzer (in this picture I used Cover Girl Queen Natural Hues Bronzer in Ebony Bronze.)

Look Of The Day: Light Sparkly Eye and A Fleshy Pink Lip

This was a super simple, 6 minute look.  I was having dinner with some friends, and wanted to step out of the neutral zone.  Here’s what I came up with. The look was inspired by Oprah’s look when she interviewed Nadya Suleman [aka octomom] last week. I didn’t realize that I rely on MAC for a lot of my looks! Thought I switched it up, but maybe not?

MAC + Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Lipstick: Info + Swatches

Nicki Minaj and MAC Cosmetics have teamed up to bring you a new satin lipstick, Pink Friday.  This is a limited edition lippie, available for the next four fridays only via maccosmetics.com. Minaj isn’t one of my favorite artists, but I love that she always has fun with her makeup!

Here’s a swatch of the lipstick on my arm in natural light.

Analysis: This a little too light for my liking. I don’t think it’s any different than any other bubble gum pink out there. If I did wear it, I would pair it with a darker gloss, like Funtabulous Dazzleglass. After I get through my current dark red lip phase, I’ll give this a whirl! I had a matte pink lipstick phase {pics here} a few years ago, when I found Gladiola lipstick. I really like that the lipstick is satin, so you can make it frosty or glossy.

Purchase Here: Pink 4 Friday

Price: $14.oo

A sample of this lipstick was provided for blog post consideration.

Nude Lips for Brown Chicks

My personal mission in life (this year) is to find the best lip colors ever.  I’m a lipstick hoarder, I don’t think you can have enough shades (or makeup in general).  One of the most perfect looks for any woman will be the nude lip.  It gives you the option to do your makeup and style your look anyway you’d like to, with no restrictions.

Last month, I spent 70 hard earned dollars (and probably $10 worth of gas) to find a few great nude lip options to write about.  I tried a slew of shades, including lipsticks and glosses.  Of those, we’ve got NYX, Wet ‘N Wild, Flirt!, and that random Vitamin E brand. My major disappointment with many of them were how sheer they were. Sheer color is fine, but that means we’ll have to re-apply it 40 times a day. Who wants to do that?

I received some criticism about my staple nudes, MAC Underplay ($14.50, I heard it’s available in MAC Stores only and I’ve heard it’s discontinued, I have no idea) and Nars Honolulu Honey ($24). I raved over them and swore by them. Let’s keep it real folks, you get what you pay for, and I paid good money for them. They are very pigmented, long lasting, and look great. Call me picky, call me choosey, but I like what works best for me. The goal was to find lip colors that are similar, less expensive and easy to find. The reality is none of the lipsticks were as good, but some sure did come close. If I tried them all and said they were great and just as good as my staple shades, I’d be a liar.
