BET Awards Beauty Breakdown

What a very interesting event we witnessed last night. There were some good moments (Maxwell, O’Jays, Janet, Ne-Yo ‘Singing “The Lady in my Life’, 90′s medley with Guy, Tevin Campbell and BBD) and there were bad moments (too many to name). I was a tweeter freak last night, I tweeted more than I do in an entire week!  But you all know me and my eagle eye, I was concentrating on the makeup! Here are my favorite looks breakdowns (The pictures aren’t working for some reason, I apologize!  Check out BET.com for more images!)

Miss Keys was bronzed to perfection. She let her lips make the impact with a deep coral shade.  Reminds me of MAC Lychee Luxe lipglass.

Ciara wore a soft shimmery eye with a red lip.  I was definitely feeling this look (not the performance though).  Try Make Up For Ever Star Powder in #926 on the lid and Flirt! lipstick in Ace for the look.

Keyshia did it big with the magenta lip!  I was so proud! Girl About Town lipstick and Magnetique lip glass by MAC are the first items that come to mind! 
The nude face was worn by many tonight, but Taraji rocked it the best!  It was creamy and flawless.  The first foundation that came to mind was Make Up For Ever HD Foundation.  MAC Mad Cap Lipglass is one of my new favorite colors, try that for a sheer nude lip! 
Maxwell is just beautiful for no reason. Had to throw that in.  Were you waiting the entire 2.5 hours for him to perform like I was?!? Maxwell’s album, BLACKsummers’night debuts July 7th! I’m picking it up on Amazon!

ColourReady FOTN

I can’t believe I had the nerve to re-create this look, but it was SO beautiful! My eye and the model’s eye look COMPLETELY different. Mine has much more space, so much in fact that I had to extend the lid area. This look took me upwards to an hour to create, scouring my kit for duplicate products! The lips were a real challenge because I wanted my lips to remain matte, and I had to use a flat eye liner brush to make the sharp corners.

The MAC Coulour Ready collection is a compilation of skincare items including a pore and line filler and transparent powder as well as various lipsticks, eye shadows and my beloved Penultimate liner. Definitely more info to follow.

Hot Lips by Flirt!

Happy Monday!!!

While at my local Kohl’s, I stumbled upon two eye catching lip shades, Ace High Wattage Lipstick and Ultra Chickstick Lipstick. These bad boys are just too hot to pass up. I said it before, and I will say it again- Flirt is mini-MAC. The product colors and textures are so similar that they have to be related in some way. For refrence, check out this post on Flirt! dupes for MAC colors. They both remind me of the Amplified lipstick series that MAC makes. Whatever the case, I WILL be rocking these this Spring and Summer!!!

While High Wattage are formulated to be intense and creamy and Chicksticks are forumulated to be smooth and shiny, they are equally as hot. If you are in Maryland, Flirt! will be having it’s brand event this Wednesday, April 1st at Kohl’s in Severn. (You know, the one across from the biggest Wal-Mart ever! ) National beauty expert Steven Bernard will be there, representing not only Flirt!, but American Beauty, Good Skin and Grassroots Research Labs. Essence Online: Eyebrows, Eyelashes, Lids and More

Finally, Essence has put out a gorgeous collection of makeup looks!! The first look is soft and Springy. Of course, the embellished flower petals are added for effect, but the rest of the look is simply beautiful, and PERFECT for an everyday look! The lip is really, really drawing me in. Reminds me of one of my favorite girly lip combinations, MAC Sweetie lipstick with Clear Lipglass right on top. I actually feature this on one of my newest videos, guide to MAC lipsticks. If lipstick isn’t your thing, you can go after the billions of pink glosses on the market!! A few that I keep in my makeup bag are Becca Glossy Lip Tint in Flirtini or Kissable Couture lip gloss in Johnny. Seriously, I never leave the house without them. Also, can’t forget the gorgeous pink blush, one of the few things that we as Women of Color run the farthest from!! Well, at least in my opinion. MAC Dollymix blush, anyone?? These lashes are infectious, large, wispy and LOUD!! Make Up For Ever and Shu Uemura are the perfect companies to refer to!!!

On the picture to the left, the all around nude look is captured. This lid looks exactly like the new Nars Eye Shadow Duo in Portobello. I love, love, love it!! When I wear it, I apply it over Painterly Paint Pot by MAC. This way, you can retain the light color of the shadow, versus the shade getting darker over a darker color base. Wearing a nude eye really gives you the option to do much more with your cheeks and lips. In this picture, the lips are reminiscent of Innocence lip gloss by Kissable Couture.
